Analysis of genotype-by-environment interaction in a multisite progeny test with Scots pine for supporting selection decisions

Abstract In multisite forest genetic experiments, the presence of genotype × environment interaction (GEI) is common. GEI may negatively affect estimates variance and hamper selection decisions in tree breeding programs. Several measures exist to evaluate stability tested genotypes’ performance across environments with a choice method likely affecting breeders’ decisions. this study, we evaluated variation diameter height growth progeny test established at 4 sites 80 open-pollinated half-sib families Scots pine. We found significant among examined age 10, reaching up 31% for 20% depending on site, both traits. estimated contribution each family using various methods tools analysis—AMMI, GGE biplots, heterogeneity regression coefficients (b i ’s), deviation mean squares from (s 2 di ) Kang’s yield-stability index (YS ). Despite cross-over interaction, ranks did not vary much sites. The selections based phenotype, YS restricted b corresponded well other leading expected response 7.8% 4.4% height, whereas those AMMI were different lead slight loss discuss our results context usefulness programs propose procedure follow making experiments GEI.
